The Community

Cherry Grove is a diverse mix of property owners, seasonal renters, single day visitors and business owners dedicated to enriching the quality of life in the community and its visitors.

Considered one of the most popular lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning [LGBTQ]-accepting resort communities; Cherry Grove is a welcoming community for all.

A Quick History

In 1868, the Perkinson’s purchased what is now known as Cherry Grove and named it after the Black Cherry trees found in the area. The Perkinson family constructed and operated a hotel until the 1920's until they sold.

After the Hurricane of 1938, the devastation to Cherry Grove discouraged mainlanders from visiting. This opens the door for people looking to escape the city and ultimately established a "safe haven" for the LGBQT community.
